Through the summer we have a series of different races, with different trophies awarded. The list and pictures of recipients for each year are available under this page.
The Weeknight Keel Boat series trophy. This trophy is awarded every year to the sailor with the top cumulative result from our weeknight keelboat race series based on PHRF. These races are held on Tuesday nights.
The Weeknight Wayfarer series trophy. This trophy is awarded every year to the sailor with the top cumulative result from our weeknight wayfarer race series. These races are held on Tuesday nights at the same time as the keel boat races.
The See the Island Trophy. This race is held most years. The top keel boat result (on PHRF) wins this trophy. The placement of the plaque commemorating the result is not chronological but there are results going back decades scattered around this beautiful trophy. The 2023 race will be held on July 22.
The George Blanchard Trophy. This trophy used to be awarded for LORC races which no longer exist. Starting in 2023 it will be awarded to the top dinghy racer in the See the Island race.
The Lightning Trophy. This trophy was awarded in the 60’s and 70’s for a Lighting class race. Nobody has that kind of boat anymore so starting in 2023 it will be awarded to the winner of the Female Helm race series which will be held on select Thursday nights (see the calendar for which ones).
The Captain Morgan Rum Gold Cup. This trophy was awarded in the 80s for a one-day race event. It is being resurrected in 2023 for a one-night race which will be held on the evening of June 3 which will be a full moon.
The Commodore Cup. Awarded in some years to an individual who has done something (or many things) that the Commodore deems to be worthy of special recognition.
The Fleet Captain’s Trophy. Awarded in some years in recognition of excellence in external competition.
The Jens T. Wolleson Memorial Trophy “The Spirit of Sailing”. Awarded in some years to someone who embodies the spirit of sailing.
The Top Hat. Awarded in some years to someone who made significant contributions to the club in that year.
